Marc Botenga: Left-wing anti-corruption empowers workers and holds corporations in check - The Cross-border Talks

00:10 Intro 01:21 Does the EU Parliament really fight against corruption? 08:55 What does regulation of corporate lobbying means? How to strengthen the influence of voters on MEPs? 15:44 What does a left-wing anti-corruption look like? What is the difference between a right-wing, liberal and a left-wing approach on anti-corruption? 21:46 What happens when political expediency allows for corruption and abuse of rule of law to be tolerated by the EU? 29:14 What can be done so that EU money can reach deeper into the societies of the EU? 35:56 Vlad's conclusion: EU worker and common man could - and should - be the subject of EU modernity and anti-corruption A cross-border talk with the MEP Marc Botenga (The Left, Belgian Workers' Party) on the recent corruption scandals in the European Parliament and on what a left-wing perspective on anti-corruption could be like. We also discuss how change in the EU's periphery could be connected to overcoming corruption not only on national level in the EU countries, but also at the level of Brussels and EU, as the stabilocracies of politicians such Boyko Borissov have enjoyed EU umbrella for a long time, thus preventing the EU money from reaching the masses and bringing about to anti-EU sentiments today.
